Strange as it is to be saying so when she's really only just seen Kate, and when all of this isn't exactly easy to wrap her head around, she means it all the same. The alternative would have been a stranger finding her, and especially given the circumstances of her arrival, that's the last thing she would have wanted to deal with. Besides, while she's done it once — showing up in a strange new place, not knowing a soul there — this is infinitely preferable. She's not sure she's ever really had a friend like Kate before.
