"What else is the second bedroom for?" Kate asks with a smile, because it's just been empty all this time and she's never been quite sure why this place gave her an apartment with two bedrooms, but now she gets it. Maybe it's been waiting for this all along and she can't say she's sad about it. Having Carla Jean around again will be amazing. It's never going to be like it was on the island and she's cool with that, she's completely into moving forward, but it's still familiar and, if she's honest. she's never had a friend like Carla Jean before. She's missed her.

"I'd be sad if you decided to live somewhere else. Oh, but there's a guy," she adds suddenly, realizing she'd told Newt only the day before that it's okay for him to come into her place without knocking.
