"It's alright," Carla Jean says. In a way, she's grateful for it, though she wouldn't know how to explain that. It just keeps her focused, keeps her thoughts from drifting too fully back to the body left behind them. Later, she thinks, she'll come see if anyone's found it or not, the beach at least being a pretty innocent location. For now, though, she has to keep going, the only way she's ever been able to deal with much of anything. Besides, it seems better to take it all in sooner rather than get it in bits and pieces, or to be surprised later on. "So Harley remembers everything but Reggie doesn't. I guess that makes sense. I was apparently on the island before and I don't remember that, either."
