"No way," Kate says, glancing to the body briefly. She remembers that Halloween well. It had turned out no one was crazy, really, that the things they'd been seeing had all manifested and she'd done her best to keep out of the way and lay low that day. In the same instant, she realizes how much time has passed between them. A full year, really, time in which Kate had disappeared from the island and come to Darrow instead, time in which a lot of things had changed.
