It's really not the kind of greeting that Carla Jean is expecting at a time like this, but she isn't bothered by that, just confused. Hell, if anything, it means a lot that Kate could see her standing over a body, a gun in her hand, and decide to give her a hug, even if she's never been all that prone to such open affection herself. Too stunned to do much else, she rests her free hand against Kate's arm, dropping it again when Kate draws back. Underneath everything else, she's just relieved, plain and simple, despite the hummingbird-quick beat of her heart. With Kate, she can really let herself feel that.
"Hey," she says, breath still not quite steady. At least this means she might have some answers, too, as to how she wound up on this beach. She won't have to deal with explaining this to a stranger, either, though she has nothing to hide. This is just easier. "Turns out I wasn't crazy after all."
